What does 2 Corinthians 2:1 mean?
Paul is making a deliberate choice to protect both himself and the Corinthian church from another painful visit. He had apparently been there before in difficult circumstances, and rather than repeat that cycle of conflict and heartache, he's deciding to take a different approach. This shows his deep care for the community, even when relationships are strained—he's willing to step back and find a better way forward rather than force a situation that would hurt everyone involved. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is recognize when a direct confrontation will cause more damage, and choose instead to create space for healing.
