2 Corinthians 12:5

On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.

What does 2 Corinthians 12:5 mean?

Paul is making a careful distinction here about where he's willing to take pride. He's saying he'll gladly celebrate what God does in other people's lives, but when it comes to himself, the only thing he's comfortable boasting about is his own struggles and limitations. There's something deeply honest in that choice: instead of listing his accomplishments or abilities, he'd rather highlight his weaknesses, because those are the places where God's strength becomes most visible. It's an invitation to flip our usual way of thinking—suggesting that our difficulties and shortcomings aren't shameful things to hide, but places where we can actually see God working most clearly in us.
