What does 2 Corinthians 11:11 mean?
Paul is responding to critics who accused him of not truly caring for the Corinthian church because he refused their financial support. His defensive question—"Why? Because I don't love you?"—carries real emotion; he's hurt that his refusal to accept their gifts was being twisted into proof that he didn't love them. He appeals to God as his witness, because only God can see what's actually in his heart. Paul's point is simple and deeply human: sometimes the most loving thing we can do is the hardest to explain, and sometimes people misinterpret our motives no matter how much we care.
