“Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.”
What does 2 Corinthians 1:7 mean?
Paul is reassuring the Corinthian church that their struggles aren't meaningless or a sign of God's absence. He's saying that whoever walks through hardship alongside Christ also gets to experience His comfort and encouragement in equal measure, not as a consolation prize, but as a genuine partnership in His grace. The point isn't that suffering is good, but that it never comes without God's compassionate presence woven through it. Paul's confidence in this reality gives him hope for them, and he wants them to have that same confidence too.
