2 Corinthians 1:20

For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.

What does 2 Corinthians 1:20 mean?

God made countless promises throughout Scripture—to Abraham, to David, to the prophets, and through them to all of us. This verse says that Jesus is the "Yes" to every single one of those promises. Whatever God said he would do, Christ's life, death, and resurrection fulfilled it or guarantees its fulfillment. When we say "Amen" (which means "so be it"), we're joining our faith to that reality and pointing others toward God's faithfulness. The beautiful part is that this isn't just abstract theology—our trust and our lives become the evidence that God keeps his word, and that brings him glory.
