“if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;”
What does 2 Chronicles 6:38 mean?
King Solomon is praying here during the dedication of the temple, imagining a painful future when God's people might be taken captive far from home. Even in exile, he says, if they turn back to God with genuine, whole-hearted devotion and pray toward Jerusalem, God will hear them. The passage reminds us that distance, circumstances, and even our own failures don't put us beyond God's reach, as long as we return to him honestly and completely. Solomon is essentially saying that geography and hardship cannot separate us from God's willingness to listen when we truly seek him.
