2 Chronicles 29:19

Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign threw away when he was unfaithful, have we prepared and sanctified. Behold, they are before Yahweh’s altar.”

What does 2 Chronicles 29:19 mean?

When King Ahaz had turned away from God, he'd carelessly discarded the sacred objects used in worship, treating them as worthless. But now his son Hezekiah and the priests are reversing that damage, carefully gathering those abandoned vessels, cleaning them, and setting them apart for holy use again. What had been neglected and forgotten is being restored to its proper place of honor in God's house. There's something tender in this image: things that were thrown away are being treated as precious again, prepared and presented before the altar where they belong.
