“But let no one come into Yahweh’s house, except the priests and those who minister of the Levites. They shall come in, for they are holy, but all the people shall follow Yahweh’s instructions.”
What does 2 Chronicles 23:6 mean?
During a time of spiritual renewal in Judah, the high priest Jehoiada was reorganizing worship at the temple after years of corruption and neglect. This instruction about who could enter the inner sanctuary reflected both practical temple protocol and a deeper spiritual principle: holiness required reverence and proper preparation. The restriction wasn't arbitrary gatekeeping. The priests and Levites had undergone specific training, ritual purification, and consecration for their role—they were set apart to tend to sacred things.
