What does 2 Chronicles 20:10 mean?
King Jehoshaphat is reminding God of a past mercy, not with complaint but as a basis for his prayer. Centuries earlier, when Israel wandered in the desert after leaving Egypt, God had protected the surrounding nations (Ammon, Moab, and the people of Mount Seir) from being conquered, even though Israel could have done it. Now, ironically, those same nations are attacking Judah, and Jehoshaphat is essentially saying, "Lord, you showed them restraint and kindness once, and now look at how they repay it."
