What does 2 Chronicles 18:8 mean?
King Jehoshaphat of Judah had just arrived to consult with Israel's King Ahab about going to war together. Ahab had gathered all his prophets, and they unanimously assured him that God would grant him victory. But Jehoshaphat sensed something was off about their agreement and asked if there was another prophet they could consult, someone who actually spoke for God rather than just what the king wanted to hear. That's when Ahab reluctantly called for Micaiah. The "quickly" in his command hints at Ahab's irritation: he knew Micaiah would deliver an unwelcome message, but honor demanded he at least hear from an authentic prophet. What follows is one of Scripture's boldest examples of someone speaking truth to power, even when it costs them dearly.
