What does 1 Timothy 6:11 mean?
Paul is speaking directly to Timothy (and through him, to all who serve God's purposes) with an urgent call to turn away from the corrupting desires that destroy people—greed, pride, and the endless chase for more stuff. Rather than getting pulled into that current, Timothy is told to actively pursue something completely different: righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. What makes this verse striking is that it's not just "don't do bad things." Paul names specific character qualities worth chasing after, qualities that actually transform how we live and relate to others. He's saying that a life rooted in God isn't about avoiding temptation alone, it's about running toward something beautiful and meaningful instead.
