And I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service;

What does 1 Timothy 1:12 mean?

Paul is looking back with deep gratitude at his own transformation. He was once a man actively persecuting Christians, yet Christ didn't disqualify him or hold his past against him. Instead, Jesus saw something in Paul—faithfulness, despite his brokenness—and entrusted him with important work. What's striking here is that Paul doesn't thank God for making him worthy; he thanks God for *counting* him worthy. It's about being seen and believed in, not about earning it. If you're in a season where you feel like your past mistakes or current struggles make you unsuitable for God's purposes, this verse suggests something different: God looks at what you can become, not just what you've been.
