What does 1 Thessalonians 4:3 mean?
God's deepest desire for you is that you become holy, and that includes how you live out your sexuality. The word "sanctification" means being set apart and made pure, a process that happens over time as you align your life with God's values. Paul is saying that sexual integrity isn't a burden God places on you, but rather part of his loving plan for your wholeness and freedom. This doesn't mean God is against joy or desire, but rather that he cares about protecting you from the ways sexual choices made outside of committed relationships can wound your heart, damage trust, and disconnect you from yourself. When you're walking through a hard season or feeling drawn toward sexual choices that don't match your beliefs, remember that God's invitation here comes from love, not judgment.
