What does 1 Thessalonians 2:8 mean?
Paul is describing a love that goes beyond duty or obligation. He's saying that he and his companions didn't just deliver their message and move on, but they genuinely cared about the Thessalonians so deeply that they were willing to invest their whole selves, their very lives and hearts, into their spiritual growth. The phrase "impart our own souls" means they held nothing back, showing up as real people with real affection, not distant teachers. This speaks to something many of us long for in our faith communities: to be known and cared for as whole people, not just as recipients of information.
