What does 1 Samuel 4:22 mean?
A woman in deep grief speaks these words after her people have lost a devastating battle. The ark of the covenant, the sacred chest that held the tablets of the Ten Commandments and symbolized God's presence with Israel, has been captured by their enemies. In that moment, she's expressing something many of us feel during our hardest seasons: that God's presence and blessing seem to have vanished along with our circumstances.
