1 Samuel 30:12
“They gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins. When he had eaten, his spirit came again to him; for he had eaten no bread, and drank no water for three days and three nights.”
What does 1 Samuel 30:12 mean?
When David's men found an Egyptian servant abandoned in the wilderness, they gave him simple food, and it restored him completely. After three days without eating or drinking, this exhausted man's strength and clarity returned the moment he took nourishment. It's a beautiful reminder of how physical care connects to our whole wellbeing, mind and spirit together. Sometimes when we're depleted or struggling, the most spiritual thing we can do is attend to the basics: eat something, drink water, rest, and let ourselves be helped by others.
