What does 1 Samuel 3:4 mean?

Samuel was a young boy serving in the temple when he heard a voice calling his name in the night. Not recognizing it as God, he thought the elderly priest Eli was summoning him and responded with a simple, immediate "Here I am." What makes this moment beautiful is Samuel's readiness to answer, even in confusion, and how his openness set the stage for God to speak directly to him. If you're going through uncertainty about what God might be calling you toward, there's something reassuring in seeing how God meets us in our confusion and how a willing heart, ready to listen and respond, creates space for His voice to be heard.
