What does 1 Samuel 24:20 mean?
King Saul speaks these words to David after David has had a perfect chance to kill him but chose mercy instead. In that moment of vulnerability, Saul finally sees what God has been doing all along: David isn't the threat Saul feared, but the person God has chosen to lead Israel next. This confession comes from a place of resignation and, strangely, relief, as if Saul can finally stop fighting against what's already written.
