What does 1 Samuel 23:11 mean?
David is on the run from King Saul and has taken refuge in the town of Keilah, but he's anxious about whether the townspeople will protect him or hand him over to Saul for a reward. So he asks God directly: will they betray me, and will Saul actually attack this place? God answers honestly that yes, Saul is coming. What's striking here is that David doesn't hesitate to ask God hard, specific questions when he's scared, and God doesn't shy away from giving him straight answers even when the news isn't what he wants to hear.
