What does 1 Samuel 2:26 mean?

Young Samuel was flourishing in every way that mattered, gaining respect from both God and the people around him. This simple statement captures something we all long for: to be growing into our better selves while the people we care about notice and appreciate who we're becoming. It's especially striking because Samuel was growing up in the temple under the priest Eli's care, in a time when his own family had given him to God's service, so his maturity and favor weren't accidental but the fruit of his faithfulness even as a child. The verse suggests that when we genuinely seek to honor God and treat others with integrity, those two things naturally work together rather than against each other.
