What does 1 Samuel 19:7 mean?
Jonathan becomes David's protector and peacemaker in this moment. Having just convinced his father King Saul that David deserves mercy and hasn't wronged him, Jonathan takes action by finding David and sharing everything he's learned, then personally bringing him back into Saul's household. It's a picture of reconciliation that only works because Jonathan risks his own relationship with his father to advocate for his friend. What makes this touching is that Jonathan chooses loyalty to David despite the cost to himself, and for a time, the tension breaks and David is restored to his place.
