What does 1 Samuel 18:25 mean?
Saul is playing a dangerous game here, disguising a death trap as a bride price. He asks David to bring him one hundred Philistine foreskins, knowing full well that acquiring them means going into battle against Israel's fiercest enemies, hoping David will be killed in the attempt. On the surface it sounds like an unusual dowry for marrying Saul's daughter Michal, but Saul's real motive is murder. What makes this passage sting is how it reveals what jealousy does to a leader.
