What does 1 Samuel 15:2 mean?
God is reminding Samuel of an old wound: generations earlier, when Israel was vulnerable and exhausted from their escape out of Egypt, the Amalek people attacked them from behind, targeting the weakest and most defenseless. That act of cruelty created a lasting mark on Israel's collective memory and, according to this verse, on God's memory too. This moment shows us something important about how God relates to His people's suffering. He doesn't forget when they're hurt or wronged, and He doesn't dismiss the seriousness of injustice.
