What does 1 Peter 3:15 mean?
Peter is inviting you to live so deeply rooted in your faith that you're naturally prepared to talk about it when someone asks. "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts" means to set God apart as supremely important in how you think and live, not as something hidden away. When you do this, you develop a genuine hope that others notice and wonder about, and you'll find yourself ready to explain where that hope comes from. The beautiful part is that last phrase: "with humility and fear." Peter isn't asking you to become a pushy evangelist or have all the answers figured out. He's asking you to speak from a place of genuine reverence for God and respect for the other person, acknowledging that your hope isn't something you've earned or deserve. This is permission to be honest about your faith without arrogance, and to simply share what's real for you when someone genuinely wants to know.
