What does 1 Peter 2:4 mean?
When Peter describes Jesus as a "living stone," he's drawing on the image of a cornerstone, the foundational stone that holds a building together. But unlike ordinary stones used in construction, this stone is alive, full of power and presence. Peter acknowledges that during Jesus's earthly life, religious and political leaders rejected him, considered him worthless, even executed him, yet God saw his true value all along and chose him as the most important foundation for faith.
