What does 1 Peter 1:4 mean?

Peter is describing the hope that sustains believers through suffering: you have something secure and permanent waiting for you that nothing in this world can touch or diminish. Unlike earthly possessions that decay, get stolen, or lose their appeal over time, what God has set aside for you in Heaven remains perfectly intact and eternally valuable. The word "reserved" suggests it's being actively guarded and held in safekeeping, which can bring real comfort when life feels unstable or when you're wondering if anything good will last. This wasn't meant as escape talk, but as assurance that your trust in God isn't built on shifting sand.
