What does 1 Kings 8:4 mean?
When King Solomon dedicated the newly built temple in Jerusalem, one of the most sacred moments was moving the ark of the covenant from the tent where it had been kept into this permanent home. The ark held the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments and represented God's presence with Israel, so this transfer was the spiritual climax of the entire project. All the other holy objects used in worship, along with the tent itself (which had served as Israel's portable worship space for centuries), were brought in ceremonially by the priests and Levites.
