What does 1 Kings 8:27 mean?
King Solomon asks this question at the dedication of the temple he's just completed, and there's a beautiful humility in it. He's acknowledging that no building, no matter how magnificent or carefully constructed, could ever actually contain God. The "heaven of heavens" phrase points to the idea that even the highest reaches of creation aren't big enough to hold the infinite God.
