What does 1 Kings 22:43 mean?
Jehoshaphat genuinely tried to follow God's ways, staying faithful to the spiritual path his father Asa had established. But like many well-meaning people, he tolerated something that shouldn't have been tolerated: the local shrines (high places) where people continued worshiping in ways God had discouraged. It's a realistic picture of incomplete obedience, where someone's heart is sincere but their courage or conviction falls short of fully addressing what's wrong around them. Sometimes we do most things right while letting one compromise slide, telling ourselves it's not that important.
