1 Kings 21:7

Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise, and eat bread, and let your heart be merry. I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

What does 1 Kings 21:7 mean?

King Ahab is sulking because a man named Naboth won't sell his family vineyard, and his wife Jezebel offers a chilling "solution"—she'll simply take it for him. Her words reveal how she operates: she sees his pouting as weakness and moves to fix his mood by any means necessary, including abuse of power. What looks like care ("let your heart be merry") is actually manipulation wrapped in false confidence. This moment shows how quickly someone can rationalize doing the wrong thing when surrounded by enablers, and how a spouse's influence for good or ill can shape everything.
