What does 1 Kings 11:9 mean?
Solomon had been given extraordinary wisdom and blessing, and God had even appeared to him twice with specific promises and warnings. Yet over time, Solomon's heart drifted away from God, pulled toward the many foreign wives he'd taken and the gods they worshipped. God's anger here isn't petulant but the righteous response of a loving parent watching someone He'd invested in turn toward things that would ultimately harm them.
