1 John 3:24
βHe who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.β
What does 1 John 3:24 mean?
When we live out what Jesus teaches, we're not just following rules from a distance, we're staying connected to him in a real, ongoing way. This isn't about earning God's love through perfect obedience, but rather about how genuine relationship naturally shows itself in how we live. The writer is saying that if we're truly in step with God, there's an internal confirmation of that, a sense of his presence within us that we can actually recognize and feel. That inner knowing comes from the Holy Spirit, God's own presence living in us, which becomes the deepest proof that we belong to him and he to us.
