1 John 1:4
βAnd we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.β
What does 1 John 1:4 mean?
John is writing to his community with a specific hope in his heart: that by sharing what he knows about Jesus and faith, their joy together will be complete. There's something beautiful in this, because it suggests that joy isn't something we experience alone in a corner, but something that grows and deepens when we're connected to each other and to God's truth. He's not writing to criticize or burden them, but because he genuinely wants their happiness and wholeness. When someone shares their faith with us, they're often doing it because they care about our deepening joy, not because they're looking for points on a scoreboard.
