What does 1 Corinthians 7:13 mean?
Paul is addressing a real situation in the early church: what should a Christian do if they're married to someone who doesn't share their faith? His counsel here is that if your non-believing spouse wants to stay and maintain the marriage, you shouldn't initiate a split. The underlying message is that a faithful, loving presence in a mixed-faith marriage can be a powerful witness and can create stability for the whole household. This doesn't mean staying in an abusive situation or denying your own faith, but rather honoring the commitment you made and the possibility that your spouse might be drawn toward faith through your consistent love and example.
