1 Corinthians 16:12
“Now concerning Apollos, the brother, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers; and it was not at all his desire to come now; but he will come when he has an opportunity.”
What does 1 Corinthians 16:12 mean?
Paul is addressing a question the Corinthian church apparently asked about Apollos, another respected Christian teacher who had worked among them. Rather than making excuses for Apollos's absence, Paul is straightforward: he personally encouraged Apollos to visit, but Apollos chose not to come right now. The gentle honesty here matters, because it shows Paul respecting Apollos's own judgment about timing rather than forcing the issue or making it dramatic.
