1 Corinthians 11:19
βFor there also must be factions among you, that those who are approved may be revealed among you.β
What does 1 Corinthians 11:19 mean?
Paul is acknowledging a painful reality: disagreements and divisions will happen in the church. Rather than seeing this as purely negative, he suggests that these conflicts can actually serve a purpose, revealing who among you has genuine faith and wisdom worth following. It's like saying that testing brings out what's real and what's not, that character shows itself when things get difficult. This doesn't mean Paul is endorsing the divisions themselves, but rather saying that God can work through even our messiest conflicts to clarify who is truly living out their faith authentically.
