1 Corinthians 11:1
“Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
What does 1 Corinthians 11:1 mean?
Paul is inviting the Corinthians to follow his example, not out of ego, but because he himself is following Jesus. He's essentially saying: "Watch how I live, because I'm trying to live like Christ, and that's what you should aim for too." It's a chain of discipleship, where each person points the next person toward Jesus rather than toward themselves. This is especially meaningful for people trying to figure out how to follow Jesus in everyday life. Sometimes it helps to have someone concrete to look at, someone whose struggles and choices you actually know about, rather than always feeling like you're starting from scratch. Paul is saying that's okay, as long as we remember that the real model is always Christ, and anyone worth following will be pointing us back to him.
