What does 1 Chronicles 28:14 mean?

David is describing the exact amounts of precious metals he's setting aside for the temple that his son Solomon will build. Rather than saying "a lot of gold and silver," he's being specific, weighing everything carefully, because this house for God deserves nothing less than complete intentionality and generosity. This passage shows us what it means to honor something we believe in. When we care deeply about a purpose, we don't just give what's easy or left over, we measure it out thoughtfully and give our best. David could have simply donated a heap of treasure, but instead he's accounting for every ounce, making sure nothing is wasted and everything is suitable for its sacred purpose.
