What does 1 Chronicles 26:19 mean?

The Korahites and Merarites were two of the main families responsible for caring for the temple in Jerusalem, and this verse is simply recording which family groups served as gatekeepers. Just as a large organization today might have different departments, the temple had different family clans who took turns managing access, security, and the flow of people coming to worship. This arrangement ensured the work was shared fairly and kept the sacred space running smoothly. It's a reminder that God valued order and responsibility, and that faithful work, even in practical roles, was considered important service to him.
