1 Chronicles 22:18

“Isn’t Yahweh your God with you? Hasn’t he given you rest on every side? For he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Yahweh, and before his people.

What does 1 Chronicles 22:18 mean?

David is reminding the leaders of Israel that God has already proven faithful by bringing them peace and victory. He's pointing out that their circumstances show God's presence and blessing, so they should trust him as they move forward with building the Temple. The "rest on every side" means the surrounding enemies have been defeated and there's stability now, not constant warfare. David wants them to see that God has already demonstrated his care, so they can confidently undertake this sacred project together. It's an encouragement built on looking back at what God has already done.
