1 Chronicles 16:28
βAscribe to Yahweh, you relatives of the peoples, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength!β
What does 1 Chronicles 16:28 mean?
When David brought the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, this song of praise rang out calling all nations to recognize God's power and majesty. The phrase "relatives of the peoples" is a poetic way of saying everyone, everywhere, as if inviting the whole human family to join in worship together. To ascribe glory and strength to God simply means to acknowledge what is already true: that He alone deserves our highest honor and that His power sustains all things. It's an invitation to stop building our own little kingdoms and instead recognize the one true King worth celebrating.
